Dave makes it a first at Kilworth Springs
One member fought through the tough conditions to post a most impressive 42 stableford points and claim there first CGS major win, ladies and gentlemen please salute Kilworth’s all conquering Dave P Smith on what was one of the most impressive golfing displays of the season. Congratulations Dave from us all.
Second place was secured by Dean Leith with a return of 37 stableford points, well done Dean, on any other day this could well have been the winning score.
Third place was taken by order of merit leader and indeed the seasons most consistent and prolific player Frank McCook with a score of 34 stableford points. In doing so Frank has extended his grip on the sought after Order of Merit title and with one event to spare as all but secured the title.
A shout goes out to Jay Berryman, Ken Brown and Linton Bell who all recorded 33 stableford points and narrowly missed out on a prize on this occasion.
The other prize winners on the day were Trevor Lammy, who took the longest drive trophy with a massive drive in excess of 300 yards, well done Trevor.
Dean Leith also claimed the nearest the pin in two prize as well as the runner up trophy, all in all a great day for big Dean.
The nearest the pin trophy went to Keith Salmon who was very surprised that his 33 feet effort actually stood up and went on to be the nearest on the day. The nearest the pin had actually rolled over from a par three on the front nine because all members missed the green, the fact that the wind was so strong and to make matters worse it was an elevated tee area that made it very hard to read the distance so this prizes was rolled over to the 18th green, Congratulations to Keith.
Now we move onto the final CGS major event of the season at the plush De Vere Staverton Park golf course on the 13th of October, Congrats to all the winners at Kilworth especially Big Bad Dave Smith!!
